Free Codes: BikeMateGPS

I’m back!! Sorry about all those codes over the long weekend that got posted on the front page instead of behind the “continue reading” link which is where they were supposed to be… that’s what I get for being lazy and doing a copy/paste that Wordpress didn’t quite understand.

Oh yeah, and my bad on those expired codes that some of you ran into! I knew they were close to going bad but I thought they’d still be ok. Eh.

New reviews are in the works, but for now check out BikeMateGPS. It’s a GPS tracker for riding your bike, but of course it can also be used for jogging/hiking/driving or whatever.

Grab Rocket Bird While You Can

rocket bird iphoneRocket Bird by Be Tomorrow is a simple, silly, yet whimsical game that features a bird, a rocket, and many country farm obstacles. The app presents a clear, simple objective – fly as far as you can. For a limited time (reportedly only through today 11/30) Rocket Bird is available for free in the App Store. If you get a chance to grab it up, it’s quite a steal.

Rocket Bird is really a bird with a rocket strapped to his back blasting across a country landscape. Players aid him in his flight by controlling his left and right motions with a tilt of the iPhone or iPod touch. It really couldn’t be a simpler game and the concept, combined with ease of control, makes Rocket Bird a terrific little casual game enhanced by colorful animation.

Taking full advantage of the accelerometer feature, Rocket Bird was designed to be accurately responsive. With three levels of difficulty, players can challenge themselves to greater distances and more complicated flights. The overall objective is to travel the greatest distance possible before crashing Rocket Bird into one of the many obstacles, such as barns, split rail fences, cows, and trees. Keep an eye on his rocket power, displayed on the right and pick up stars for added rocket fuel. Try to beat your personal best or compare your distance with that of other players via the global leader board.

Rocket Bird hits the mark of a casual, pick up and play game in every aspect – it’s easy to learn, quick and fun to play, and has a simple objective. Of course the colorful animation and accompanying in-flight tune are great additions. For free, Rocket Bird is a hidden gem. Even once it again becomes a paid app, it will remain a great little casual game for players of all ages.

Become Santa’s Helper with Santa’s Run

santa's run iphoneLooking for a festive game to put you and your iPhone in the holiday spirit? Santa’s Run is a seemingly simple game that lets you lend Santa a hand by delivering gifts to homes around the world.

Featuring two different mini-games spanning four different parts of the world, Santa’s Run is all about spreading holiday cheer by throwing presents at chimneys and doors. If this is anything like what Santa goes through, it’s no wonder Broken Thumbs Apps felt he could use a little help.

Playing Santa’s Run is a simple concept, but somewhat difficult to master. By touching the screen and aiming presents at the appropriate homes, presents fly through the air and hopefully hit their mark. It sounds simple, but taking into account the varying wind speeds and the power behind the present toss, many presents may not reach the homes at all. The key is to pay attention to the power meter, represented by the blue, yellow, and red power meter rings. Yet, just when you think you have it figured out, those howling westward winds will throw you for a loop.

Santa’s Run can be played in two modes – Around the World and Endless Delivery. Around the World features four distinct areas of the globe and supplies players with the required number of presents to be delivered at each home. Endless delivery allows players to select their favorite location and master their present-launching trajectory. The game keeps track of your accuracy and allows players to compare high scores with other players.

Though you don’t get the help of Donner, Blitzen, Cupid and the gang, Santa’s Run features quick but challenging gameplay accompanied by a catchy and original holiday jingle, all of which are intended to do no more than supply a few minutes of stress-free holiday cheer and entertainment.
